H.O.P.E launches H.o.P.E PARTNERS PROGRAM
H.O.P.E. kicks off a new program called H.O.P.E. partners. H.O.P.E. partners is where we match an organization or group with a facility or activity which serves those experiencing homelessness. Our first company was Verizon Wireless. They were matched with St. Vincent de Paul's soup kitchen. Not only did they do a hygiene drive to pass out bags to the guests but also served the guests literally by handing them their trays of food. The guests enjoyed their company and the treat they had for them in the end. Like Dick Hackett said, the Executive Director and former of Mayor of Memphis, it is about treating each guest with humility and dignity. If you or your organization would like to join this effort, please contact Tamara Hendrix at [email protected] or 901-254-5964.
GIVE HOPE FUNDRAISER
OCTOBER 2019
The third annual Give H.O.P.E. fundraiser, hosted at St. Mary's in October of 2019, was a blast! Here is some footage of our special guests Dance Azteca performing a ritual ceremony. The ceremony was a homage to National Indigenous People's Day (instead of Columbus Day). Thank you to those who attended, and see you next year! Stay tuned for more information about our 2020 Give H.O.P.E. fundraiser.

National housing week of action
MAY 2019
On March 11, President Trump‘s fiscal budget request for 2020 was released. This budget proposes raising the rent of those with disabilities and low-income seniors whose rent is subsidized by HUD. It also proposes work requirements for benefit recipients which will lead to much more poverty if not more homelessness.
As we do every year, in collaboration with the “Our Homes, Our Voices” campaign’s National Housing Week of Action, HOPE intends to speak for those who have been affected and will be affected by such major change. On the week of May 30th-June 5th, we choose June 1st as our day to host an action at Morris Park!
The turnout was great and everyone was excited to speak to us about fair and affordable housing and what that looks like. We agreed that no it would not be fair to cut funding to those who really need the support. Thank you for all those who helped make this event so awesome and look on the website for updates to action we are doing further to help Congress not make these cuts. Power to the People!
